Then go one step further and engage with others within your area of expertise, within LinkedIn groups, Google+ Circles, Facebook groups, online forums etc.

Your network is extremely valuable. Many opportunities can be created through your network and we all know that it’s not WHAT you know but WHO you know that is a key factor to success. To build your network you need to invest time in it to grow, not only online but offline, face-to-face.


4.    You are the master of your own destiny

You are the only one responsible for your success. Take control of your personal brand to create your own opportunities. Invest a fraction of your time to building your personal brand and engage with others in your industry. At first it can seem a little overbearing but break it down into small achievable tasks. ‘On Monday I will allocate one hour to creating my LinkedIn profile’, ‘On Wednesday I will spend half an hour researching a platform on which to create my personal website’.
