6 Steps to Make The Most of LinkedIn

 

Are you making the most of your LinkedIn profile? Here are 6 steps to get you back on track to career success!

1. Engage Frequently 

Did you know only ⅓ of LinkedIn members login each day? You will see great results if you do the following: Update your status on a daily basis, comment on others updates and those of companies, connect with a new person each day, contribute in LinkedIn groups weekly and finally be sure to update your profile regularly.  

 

2. Personalise your connection requests

Rather than sending the automated LinkedIn connection message be sure to personalise them. Some things to include are: why you wish to connect and what you have to offer. Remember to write this as if you were speaking to them in person, keep your tone conversational but professional and finally keep it brief and to the point.

  

3. Connect

Did you know that 81% of individuals on LinkedIn are apart of at least one LinkedIn Group. You should be a part of at least 5 groups and actively participate on each, on a weekly basis. Search for people you know, they could be ex-work or university colleagues and connect with them. Finally, make it easy to be contacted by others by displaying your contact details on LinkedIn.

 

4. Share your insights

Share articles that are related to your area of expertise. When sharing your own content be sure to follow it with a question, so your readers really engage with your material.

 

5. Honestly endorse your colleagues

Each time you endorse a colleagues skill, you are qualifying their skills. Be sure to be honest when endorsing your connections, a dishonest endorsement completely undermines the system. Finally be sure to personally thank those that endorse you.\

 

6. Share your profile

You can share your personal LinkedIn URL on all of your social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) and also include it in your email signature. You can even include a link on your personal website! Finally be sure to mention your LinkedIn profile when in conversation and encourage individuals to connect with you.
